About
Filmed in Ukraine with a cast of largely non-professional Ukrainian actors, Jayden Stevens’ A Family is a unique blend of Australian lo-fi filmmaking and Eastern European deadpan. The film follows a lonely man who hires actors to portray members of his family. His fake sister is soon inspired to attempt the project herself and the fiction of their relationship begins to blur. Guided by a current of pitch-black comedy, this is an arrestingly constructed study of loneliness and the complexities of human connections.
