About
To celebrate 50 years since the moon landing, the Australian Cinémathèque will present ‘Far From Home: Cinema’s Fascination with Space’ as part of World Science Festival, Brisbane 2019. Since the beginnings of film through to today’s contemporary cinema we are fascinated the vast unknown of the stellar realm. The films selected are bold and fantastical imaginings of journeys to the moon, life on Mars and the psychological impact of travelling through space.
Presented by the Queensland Museum, the World Science Festival Brisbane takes place between 20 and 24 March 2019 and will bring some of the world's greatest thought leaders to Queensland, showcase local scientists and performers from around the Asia Pacific region, and host the brightest and the best from previous events in New York.
QAGOMA acknowledges the generous assistance of the National Film and Sound Archive, Canberra in providing materials for this program.
