About
A night of music accompanies screenings of celebrated Armenian filmmaker Artavazd Pelechian's short films, The Inhabitants 1970 and The Seasons of the Year 1972. The Inhabitants will screen with its dramatic soundtrack that captures the grace and brutality of the animal world. After this initial screening, a quartet from Camerata - Queensland's Chamber Orchestra will perform compositions that respond to nature, followed by their re-scoring of Pelechian's iconic work The Seasons of the Year.
The string quartet will comprise of Brendan Joyce (Artistic Director/violin), Jonny Ng (violin), Alice Buckingham (viola), Katherine Philp (cello) from Camerata which is a Company-in-Residence at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre and has established itself as a chamber orchestra of national significance. Performing without a conductor, the ensemble form a thriving, refreshing voice within the Australian musical landscape undertaking a major concert season annually in Brisbane and Toowoomba and regularly work with performers outside the 'classical' sector.
Please note this event will be 70 minutes long with two screenings and music performances.
Both films screen with their original soundtrack 12.30pm Sat 25 February 2017.
