About
Genesis Breyer P-Orridge sincerely regrets having to cancel their Australian tour due to unexpected complications related to their ongoing struggle with chronic leukemia. The Australian Cinémathèque's previously advertised film screenings will continue as planned.
After rising to notability as the founder of the COUM Transmissions artistic collective and then fronting the industrial band Throbbing Gristle, Genesis Breyer P-Orridge was a founding member of Thee Temple ov Psychick Youth occult group, and fronted the experimental band Psychic TV. P-Orridge's artworks have been exhibited internationally over the past 46 years, culminating in retrospectives at the Andy Warhol Museum and the Rubin Museum of Art.
These free screenings provide a rare opportunity to see Throbbing Gristle collaborations with English filmmaker Derek Jarman, music videos by Psychic TV and documentaries on P-Orridge and the late Jackie '"Lady Jaye'" Breyer P-Orridge's 'Pandrogyne Project'.
