The late Alan Young was an avid film collector and involved in the early Brisbane Film Festivals from 1966. Alan was a member of the non-profit Brisbane Cinema Group and ran the Magnificent Obsessions Film Society from his home in Graceville from 1990. He was also a well-respected member of the Queensland Art Gallery's Volunteer Guide team for 25 years.
The Alan Young Film Library is a collection of significant books, DVDs, videos and journals covering the great cinema classics, Hollywood's golden years, cult movies and screen legends, from Australian, American, French, Italian and Japanese cinema. The collection also includes Broadway musicals, film noir, film studios, horror, science fiction, Westerns and influential filmmakers.
The collection contains 843 DVD titles, 90 videos and 270 books.
