‘Pearls’ 1999–ongoing
‘Pearls’ is an ongoing project that Gill began in 1999. It involves her inviting a friend or acquaintance to provide her with a book of personal value, which she then transforms into beads and returns to the owner as a gift. Four members of the MCA staff, chosen by lucky dip, were invited to give Gill a book of their personal choice. The books have been returned to their owners as jewellery.
