Peter Alwast

The winner of the inaugural Premier of Queensland’s National New Media Art Award in 2008 was Brisbane artist Peter Alwast. His digital animation Everything 2008 combined 3-D computer modelling with video, sound, photography and abstract painting. Alwast subsequently took up artist residencies in Berlin and New York, and his work has been presented in group exhibitions at the Tate Modern, London, and Loop Gallery, Seoul. In 2010, Alwast’s work was included in ‘Utopia Now: Experimenta International New Media Festival’ in Melbourne (and touring Australia), and his work Everything was selected for the international award exhibition ‘Update_3/Body Sound’ at the Zebrastraat in Ghent, Belgium, an initiative of the Liedts-Meesen Foundation and co-presented with the Centre Pompidou, Paris. His work will be shown at Para/Site, Hong Kong, from July to September this year.
