PHORM architecture + design

Since its inception in 2000 by Paul Hotston, PHORM architecture + design has focused on developing a balance of projects between those located in the south-east corner of the state and those in regional Queensland. Hotston’s knowledge of, and affinity for, regional Queensland landscapes has origins in both his childhood and early professional career —  in his youth he recalls regular ‘pilgrimages’ from Brisbane to his grandparents’ isolated farmhouse south of Rockhampton, and following his graduation from University of Queensland in 1993 he worked in the Townsville office of Barrett Architects from 1994 to 1999. The work of PHORM consistently demonstrates both a close investigation of the potential of the specific site, as well as a desire to relate projects to the broader context of either city or landscape.
