Del Kathryn Barton’s drawings have a pared-back immediacy and rawness. The figures are strangely confronting, their presence is felt as if in a nightmare, where all clues to normality slip away and are replaced with symbols and emotions. Alien-like, but bearing the facial characteristics of newborns, these figures embody both strength and vulnerability.
