With Tim, Christian de Vietri gives form to the process of the change and decay of iconography — to the gaps between the original icon, the street performer’s simulation, and his own recreation of the performance. The homemade and haphazard aesthetic of the ‘living sculpture’, who attempts only a cursory simulation of the original, is recreated in meticulous detail by the artist in the materials of the original sculpture.
